The restoration of ceramics
restauro ultimato

For almost 30 years I have been (in fact I’m in love ) restoration of artifacts that man has produced over the past centuries and in different materials according to the different styles .

Among these materials cover all artistic productions that have passed through at least one cooking in the oven at 900 degrees, commonly referred to with the word ” ceramics” that says everything and nothing identifies .
The restoration of ceramics is for my work as a restorer and a very important feature , satisfying the customers coming from different parts .
Have practiced the art of the potter for many years ( I played the role of a teacher at the pottery course of the Municipality of Senigallia , in the province of Ancona ) , having worked for about 8 years with the ceramist Amaranth Franco, he was a student until the death of his dear master sculptor Romulus Augustus Schiavoni , I graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in sculpture in Florence , are the foundation that has allowed me to compare myself with the various constituent materials of ceramics and those necessary for its restoration.

In all these years , my clients for the restoration of ceramics were private and antique dealers from the north-central Italy , which have come out from my studio always very satisfied, both for the quality of work for the price.

“Modus operandi”

I have always accepted the challenge of restoring any ceramic product that was offered to me by customers can be summarized in the following list : terracotta , majolica , faience with third fire, with luster tiles , stoneware or porcelain in bisque porcelain enamel .
At the same time I also compared with the restoration of: opal , glass , precious stones, stones , marbles .

The issues addressed range from simple chipping reassembly of even 30 pieces to a plate decorated ; the complete renovation of a foot to the execution of complicated snakes .

The quality of the restoration guarantees: no change in the time of the materials and adhesives used , resistance to light for the colors used for retouching, weather resistance (when required ) .
I never went back customers to complain for any reason . I happened to be restored for the second time ( for new accidental breakage ) pieces have already been restored by me even 15 years ago, and found a positive guarantee as above.

AIMS PURSUED

The goals that I pursue for the restoration of ceramics are : the elimination of all the speeches of previous restorations and know myself stop when this compromises the piece , attention, during demolition , material and glazes original , the choice of right adhesive according to the inertia forces to bear and to the ceramic material , the cleaning liquid and with systems that do not affect in any way the matter and enamels and does not leave residues in time , the choice of materials for the restoration of first quality, at the most important Italian specialty retailers , with particular attention to the study of technical specifications, the virtually zero insertion of metal pins inside the material , retouching painting , for the aesthetic restoration , going to sovvrapporsi as little as possible on the original glazes .

The ultimate goal is to restore the necessary structural stability of the workpiece and the proper aesthetic pleasure : this is what normally the customer asks.

If the customer asks to meet the modern guiding principles of any restoration activities , all activities listed above will be calibrated to achieve a restoration that : both the possible reversible and that does not affect in any way the original parts, use colors reversible and stable in subdued in order to identify the intervention , not the arbitrary reconstruction of missing parts, a solid photographic documentation and a comprehensive final report of the intervention carried out .
