The statue was in serious condition,

having been exposed in a newsstand to the elements.

The paint and chalk were very crumbly by the action of the water

and the irons inside it had swollen due to rust.

The plaster has been reconsolidated,

rebuilt and repainted for an aesthetic result much appreciated and lasting
